Mercedes-Benz Museum staged the “auto”-biography of the C 111
In its special exhibition "C 111 – timeless and visionary" the Mercedes-Benz Museum told the story of an exceptional superstar from the annals of automotive history. The Mercedes-Benz C 111 originated in 1969 as a highly innovative research vehicle to test the Wankel rotary engine as well as new lightweight construction materials. While the futuristic gullwing coupé with its distinctive paintwork never went into production, it nonetheless continues to delight people to this day with its fascinating design and the story of the speed records it set in the late 1970s. Nine vehicle exhibits, all in all, were used to define that particular era of history and bring the full story of the C 111 to life.
